Thanks to Gia Guidice's total meltdown, there's been a lot of talk, chatter and brouhaha regarding the Sunday's episode of RHONJ. I just watched it tonight, so here's my two cents: Jacqueline (especially) and Caroline looked really bad trying to "parent" Gia that day. Is Gia a spoiled brat? Of course she is, but history has long shown us that 10-year-old's have a tendency to behave a little out-of-control at times. Then too, being 10 doesn't make Gia an idiot and plenty of longtime fans of RHONJ have seen Jacqueline act real childish and temperamental when she doesn't get her way. But really, you're a grown-ass woman taking on a 10yo child (that's not yours), telling her to get out of your house and then condescendingly bringing out some book about "Being A Bad Sport" to read to her?!? Gia knew she was being played and she wanted no part of it. Indeed, Jacqueline's behavior there was so bad it actually made me sympathize with what Ashlee had to deal with growing up:

Now Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita are defending their attempt to diffuse the situation, after Teresa criticized them, saying they should have left the parenting to the parent.
"Field day was a blast. See? Miracles happen. Everyone got along and really enjoyed the day. Almost..." Caroline writes in her Bravo blog. "Gia was unhappy that her team lost the tug of war. She thought her Uncle Joe was cheating and she voiced her opinion to everyone. I was upstairs in the kitchen cooking when I heard voices from the basement and it sounded like someone crying. I went downstairs...and tried to explain to Gia that her mom and uncle were having a great time."
Caroline says that things did not get confrontational until Gia blatantly disregarded her as an adult authority figure.
"I never once reprimanded her for her behavior until she became disrespectful towards me directly," Caroline continued. 'I don't care whose child you are or how upset you are; you do not look an adult in the face and tell them to be quiet, mind their business, and get out of the room. Especially when they are not antagonizing you. It was then I told Gia to look at me and show some respect. I would expect nothing less from any other adult if it were my child back in the day--respect is paramount in my book."
Speaking of books, Jacqueline at one point pulled out a book to read to Gia about "Being a Bad Sport." Jacqueline claims that her intention wasn't to antagonize Gia or make the situation worse.
"I apologized many times for overstepping my boundaries on that one," Jacqueline tweeted during the episode. "I felt horrible. I just wanted her to snap out of it and join us."
As for Teresa accusing them of being unkind by not fetching her when Gia was asking for her, Caroline and Jacqueline both went on the all-caps defensive.
"WE didn't get her Mom because she was filming outside," Jacqueline tweeted.
"I DID call for Teresa," Caroline tweeted.
Caroline not only takes issue with Gia's behavior as a reflection on Teresa's parenting, but she also didn't appreciate Teresa reprimanding her and Jacqueline.
"Teresa challenging Jacqueline and myself in front of Gia was wrong," Caroline wrote in her blog. "First of all, she wasn't in the room, she didn't know what happened. IF she had a problem with either of us, she should have pulled us aside and spoke to us in private and discussed the situation before berating us in front of Gia. That's just my thought on it, we all parent differently, and that's what makes the world go round."
Jacqueline, on the the other hand, had less than kind words to leave with Teresa after seeing Teresa's confessional, in which Teresa questioned Jacqueline's parenting skills with her daughter Ashlee, whom viewers have watched being "rebellious" over the last three seasons.
"And her kids aren't rebellious at all, huh?" she tweeted.

As a child I was taught to respect your elders and it worked. In this era parent are not parent who are teaching their children how to show respect and that is why kids are so disrespectful. Gia was so out of control where is her discipline. She got away with it and Theresa blames someone instead of herself. Take care and teach your children because if you don't. Guess when they become teen what you allowed will be used on you. When they marry the husband will not put up with their drama and she will come marching home with her children back to where it was allowed. Jac and Caroline well they should of let theresa deal with it but where was she when your child is crying? I know they meant well but alittle harsh, instead call mom.

ReplyDeleteGia's an extrovert, has a lot of energy, and she's TEN. A little high strung drama is to be expected. She was actually trying to remove herself from the conflict (telling them she wanted to be by herself, then wanting her mom) I'm not the biggest Theresa fan but in that moment I thought she was a good mommy to an upset little girl.

They both took their anger at teresa out on her child and thats not ok.. ever. Gia was disrespectful but a lot went on that we didnt see. They had her cornered and she could feel the hate they were directing her way. Gia knew she was upset and isolated herself. She was not crying when caroline went looking for her WITH the cameras.. Also, they claim they didnt go get Teresa bc she was filming.. yet they were filming with teresas child and knew they were being nasty. If, as caroline says, the children are a reflection of what they see.. then that explains ashley and carolines 3 children who think they are better than everyone else, insult people, and make fun of people on twitter.. all while riding the coat tails of their mothers houseWIFE show... Carolines kids are LAZY and not one of them has a job! only one graduated college and none of them have done anything productive with their adult lives.. they spend all their time making fun if Teresa who happens to be running circles around these morons. She has out smarted ALL of them!
ReplyDeleteIt was just an incident where a little girl had a meltdown. Caroline and Jac needed to shut up and leave her alone, but instead Caroline tried to bully Gia and demand respect. Stupid. Caroline had no business reprimanding Gia after what she is doing to Tre. Don't tell a little girl u love her when you are trying to ruin her family. From what I have seen, Gia is athletic and outgoing, the type of girl who will go somewhere in life. With a loser daughter like Ashley in their family, and the borderline grifter sons of Caroline, I would think the Manzos would shut it when it comes to parenting.

And I do believe Caroline went into a tizzy when Teresa said something about chris's stripper car wash..hipocrite? And Jac has the nerve to say anything, she laid her daughter out to dry for a story line....yeah Gia may be spoiled but every little girl is. One Manzo flunked out of law school, another opened a fancy salon; which closed right away, the other son wants a stripper car wash; that never happened, and now the three stooges (Caroline's sons and nit wit brother) come up with the brilliant idea of selling BLACK WATER, are you kidding me. Deletejust watched the rerun and the whole show I thought what an amazing kid Gia is (and how hard it will be with her unbelievably simple mom and dad). Hope she will grow up to be a strong women, despite the morons in her life. Re the field day, many 10-13 year old would have had problems with the cheating (anyone could see the cheating). Only young kids are oblivious to cheating and justice and adults can choose to value fun and games over fairness. But in Gias age you learn about and respect fairness, so of course it would bother her more. The reaction of Caroline and Jaqueline was horrible horrible horrible. Caroline more interested in looking like the wise elder than helping a desperate pre teen and Jaqueline? She screamed at her at the top of her lungs and then pulled out a baby book...so condescending, so oblivious, Im sorry, no wonder Ashley has such a hard time with her. It showed a very ugly, self centered and lack of ability to even remotely understand a girl at the beginning of puberty. Very hard to watch. And the rudeness of these 2 women to come down on her and not fetch her mom...if ANYONE had talked to Carolines kids that way, she would have not had it.

What a brave thing to do while Caroline ,Jaq and Melissa were trying to paint Teresa as a villain. Guess what most see thru the jealous bitches. Teresa was handed lemons but she added vodka and is having a hell of a party. Caroline what have you accomplished? NOTHING. Jaq is awful to her beautiful daughter. Why don't these women love their girls? Once again Teresa trumps you in that dept, she has 4 and treats them like gold. They will grow up with self esteem.

Her golden child Albie has his mommy read his assignments to him and lied about the severity of his learning disablity. Now he along with fat brother Chris, are being sued for the whole BLK mess. Al Sr has his own legal problems and takes Caroline upstairs at the Brownstone when he doesn't have someone else up there.

Then Caroline and a drunk Jacquelne decide to parent Gia. I also was taught to respect my elders. But my aunts, real and honorary, never came at me drunk. Gia is going through a lot. She knows her dad is going to jail. And Melissa has made sure that went out for everyone to see and hear. Gia hears her dad accused of having affairs. Gia is made fun of by her mom and sales clerk about buying a bra. She was upset and went downstaitrs to be alone. Caroline had no business down there. Jacqueline didn't either. If she had gone to my child drunk, there would have been a scene for real.
