Demetria McKinney and Longtime Boyfriend Roger Bobb are Finally Engaged

People.com:
If you've got it, flaunt it – an engagement ring, of course.

Real Housewives of Atlanta guest star Demetria McKinney got engaged to her longtime beau and TV executive Roger Bobb, and she can't stop showing off the gorgeous ring. (Hey, we don't blame her.)

The actress, singer and reality star posed for pictures with her sparkler at the Growing Up Hip Hop premiere at SCADshow in Atlanta on Tuesday, and she gushed about the happy news on Instagram.

"It's true! I'm no longer #RogerBobb girlfriend! We are #engaged ! Thank u to all who rooted for and supported us!" McKinney, 36, captioned a selfie showing the ring on Tuesday.

McKinney, best known for her role as Janine Payne on TBS sitcom Tyler Perry's House of Payne, has been dating Bobb, 48, for several years. The star has a teenage son from a previous relationship.

"Balancing her career and relationship while raising a son as a single mother hasn't always been easy, but Demetria strongly believes family comes first," her Bravo bio reads.

New Video: Demetria McKinney feat. Kandi Burruss - “Unnecessary Trouble"

Wetpaint.com:
Demetria McKinney may not be on Real Housewives of Atlanta anymore, but she’s still making use of those friendships she formed while on the show, especially as they pertain to her burgeoning music career.

The budding songstress, who has had success with her previous tracks, “Trade it All,” and “100,” enlisted Kandi Burruss’s help with a song called “Unnecessary Trouble.

Not only did Kandi help write the upbeat tune about troublesome fellas, but the former Xscape member also sings on the track and appears in the accompanying music video, a snippet of which you can see below.

Kandi shared the clip on Instagram and noted we’ll get to see how the video came together on this Sunday’s episode of RHoA. The expectant mom also revealed the new single will be available on iTunes on Sunday, December 27.

If the comments on Kandi’s post are any indication, her fans (and Demetria’s) will eat this joint effort up.

“I like it. Give me more,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “It looks like you had fun in the video kandi! I'm here for it do more duos with her I can't wait to hear it.”

Demetria first teased her collabo with Kandi nearly a year ago, telling Wetpaint exclusively she was “excited” to work with the music industry vet.

Sheree Whitfield and Marlo Hampton Allegedly Returning to 'Real Housewives of Atlanta'

Wetpaint.com:
Filming for Season 8 of Real Housewives of Atlanta is already underway, and even though Bravo won’t confirm who is in the cast until about six weeks before the fall premiere, a new photo seems to indicate both Marlo Hampton and Sheree Whitfield are back for more of the hit show.

The former RHOA stars were spotted by Instagram of Atlanta at a private event in ATL this past weekend alongside current RHOA star Cynthia Bailey. A peek at Cyn’s Instagram tells us this event was actually the Atlanta launch for her eyewear collection, so it makes sense for the gals to show up and support Cynthia, especially if cameras were rolling.

As if this photo wasn’t enough evidence of Marlo and Sheree’s likely return to reality TV, after months of speculation we’re hearing Sheree finalized a contract to return for Season 8 while Marlo is rumored to have done the same.

Avid RHOA watchers will likely remember that Sheree was replaced by current cast member Kenya Moore at the start of Season 5, which has led many to speculate there could already be bad blood between the pair.

Marlo, who filtered in and out during Seasons 4-6, is a nemesis of NeNe Leakes, so in a weird way it makes sense for her to be brought back and replace the departing H’wife. The fierce fashionista also told Wetpaint in an exclusive interview earlier this summer she’d “definitely” come back to RHoA, which makes her return even mcore likely.

Andy Cohen recently said he had “no info” on who might be joining RHoA Season 8, but if you ask us, this photo tells a different story!

Demetria McKinney Signs Record Deal, Hints At Departure From "RHOA"

Wetpaint.com:
On Season 7 of Real Housewives of Atlanta, newbie Demetria McKinney has been all about her music — even skipping the RHoA reunion to perform and prepare for an upcoming tour — so that's what makes this news especially sweet. Demetria just revealed exclusively to Wetpaint that she has officially signed with eOne records! We were present at the signing, so be sure to scroll down for exclusive photos and videos.

Demetria has had tremendous success with her debut single “100” featuring Da Brat, which soared to No. 4 on iTunes R&B charts after she performed the song on RHoA, and her current single, “Trade It All," is gaining momentum. What’s more? Demetria was recently added to R. Kelly's upcoming Black Panties tour and to the Funk Fest tour, which kicks off this summer.

“This is a dream come true for me. I'm so grateful to eOne, my team, and Bravo TV for giving me the platform to share my music which has now culminated into me joining eOne. I look forward to my upcoming tours with R. Kelly and Funk Fest, as well as releasing some great music this summer" Demetria says via a press release from eOne.

Alan Grunblatt, President of eOne Music, adds, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Demetria McKinney to the eOne family of artists. She has a beautiful voice and is a talented singer and actress.”

Real Housewives of Atlanta’s TV Ratings Are Down

ADW.com:
Perhaps the years of manufactured drama has worn as stale as two-day-old oatmeal on the audience of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Not even the addition of full-time cast member Claudia Jordan and part-timer Demetria McKinney could do much to clear the cobwebs from the corridor of decision making from Bravo brass.

Whatever the reason, RHOA ratings have plummeted from the time of being America’s most popular reality show this side of the Kardashians.

“The show’s ratings have definitely waned as the season moved on and the drama fell off,” the AJC reports. “Last week was a case in point: 2.62 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating for the 21st episode.

“A year ago? 3.9 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. These are overnight ratings. The Live+3 (DVR usage) ratings did improve the numbers to 3.2 million and 1.5-18-49. But it’s clear the show is far less popular this season than season six. Average overnight viewership is about 3 million vs. 3.7 million a year ago.”

Have we seen the best days of RHOA? Or is it simply a case of RHOA taking a backseat to more popular reality shows such as the “Love and Hip Hop” and “Basketball Wives” franchises?
Let's face it, Phaedra and estranged husband Apollo Nida's relationship, while at the forefront this season, just wasn't winning over viewers. And it couldn't have helped that Kenya was mostly drama-free this year, much less keeping her love life such a secret, nor did everyone ganging up against NeNe. Bottom line, it's still NeNe's show and Bravo execs may need to be reminded of that.

Demetria McKinney Debuts New "Trade It All" Video

Wetpaint.com:
The Real Housewives of Atlanta beauty announced that the full-length video would be dropping soon, giving fans a taste of what they’re in for with a short clip of the video on Instagram

In the video, a glamorous Demetria is seen having her makeup done, posing with a male model for a photo shoot, and getting cozy with a love interest.

While we’ll have to wait a while to see the completed video, Demetria’s been on a roll when it comes to her music lately — last week, to commemorate the three year anniversary of Whitney Houston’s death, Demetria released a tribute video in which she sings Whitney’s hit, “The Greatest Love of All.”

With a number of live performances lined up and a growing number of individuals calling themselves fans of her work, it looks like Demetria can look forward to a long career in the music business, despite what some of her RHoA costars might have said about her potential to succeed.

As the saying goes, the best revenge is massive success!

Demetria McKinney Reveals Who She's Really Friends With on the RHoA Cast

Wetpaint.com:
Demetria McKinney may be a newcomer to Real Housewives of Atlanta, but she’s already established some fabulous friendships with her fellow castmates.

Demetria may have had to suffer through Phaedra Parks’ impolite questions about drug use and plenty of cracks from other members of the cast about her less-than-smooth video release party, but it seems she’s still managed to find plenty of positive support from castmates Cynthia Bailey and Claudia Jordan.

In a new interview with Examiner.com, Demetria opens up about how her two new pals have helped her acclimate to the difficult world of reality TV.

Those were the two I felt genuinely gave me a chance to see how I was,” says Demetria. “Cynthia is who she is; you can’t help but love that. Claudia and I were supposed to be at odds. We are both tom boys, we both have successful backgrounds, we formed a friendship.”

Despite the fact that Demetria and Claudia were supposed to dislike one another, it’s clear that their bond has evolved into something special — she even gave her new pal a spot in her upcoming video for “Trade it All.”

“Cynthia, Claudia and I are genuinely friends,” explains Demetria. “I wanted to show in the video the difference between what people see and what happens behind the camera.”

While fans may want to see more of Demetria on RHoA, her reality career is far from the only project she has in the pipeline at the moment. In addition to Housewives and her music, Demetria recently filmed the pilot for TV show “Sons to the Grave,” co-starring Carlos Anthony Payne and Vivica Fox.

Demetria McKinney Vows She & Boyfriend Roger Bobb Will Survive ‘RHOA’ Drama

RadarOnline.com:
New Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Demetria McKinney vows in an exclusive RadarOnline.com interview that her longtime relationship with producer Roger Bobb will not be a casualty of the reality TV show.

“Once this is all done, we are walking away together,” McKinney, 35, insists to Radar.

McKinney got an unpleasant surprise when she learned while taping the show that Bobb had dated another woman during a “break” in their eight-year relationship. Despite the revelation, McKinney tells Radar he’s still “the love of my life.”

The “biggest strain” on the couple is the harm the reality television show could do to Bobb’s career as a film and TV producer, she reveals. “He is about his business and with our relationship being put out there it kind of makes it a part of a circus that he really didn’t need to be a part of.”

“This is something that he truly did out of love for me and because of that, that’s why I’m so very thankful for him,” McKinney continues. “But that’s also why I’ve tried my best to kind of do damage control as it pertains to him.”

How is that going? So far, so good — despite the drama over the other woman, she says.

“We are great,” she tells Radar. “We are in the best place we’ve ever been. We’ve prayed and we have talked. He is still my best friend.”

She and Bobb met when he was the supervising producer on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and she was a co-star on the TBS sitcom. But the couple had to keep their dating a secret for years or else risk getting fired by Perry, who had a strict rule banning cast and crew relationships.

“There were dire consequences for that type of thing,” McKinney says. “He had no idea.”

McKinney shares that she learned the key to successfully dating someone you work with is to act “grown” when you have a fight. “We knew how to conduct ourselves. And if you ever say that you really cared about somebody, whether you’re with them or not, you won’t bash them. It’s just totally disrespectful to whatever you had to get out of a relationship and just start to spill the beans or start to run their name in the dirt.”

She makes no secret that she would say “yes” if Bobb proposed marriage, “But everything in it’s due time,” she says.

Demetria McKinney Says Roger Bobb Is Still HER Man, Despite New Cheating Allegations

MadameNoire.com:
If you watched “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” like we did last night, I’m sure we can all agree that it wasn’t a good evening for former “House of Payne” star and singer, Demetria McKinney. While trying to mix and mingle with her new co-stars at Kandi’s sex toy party, Kandi’s friend Gocha Hawkins (who is currently dating La La Anthony’s cousin, Dice) decided to share in front everyone that she also dated McKinney’s boyfriend, Roger Bobb. In the eight years that the two have been together, on and off, Hawkins said she was with him about two years ago.

McKinney would go on to say that she and Bobb were “on” during that time and that she didn’t believe Hawkins’ story: “I’m almost positive she’s lying. I don’t know her, but I know him.”

From there, it looked like McKinney’s role on the show was going to be the clueless woman stuck with a cheating man who doesn’t take her as seriously as she takes him.

But that’s not how McKinney sees things at all. On her Instagram account, she let followers and Hawkins know, in the words of MonKenStef, “he’s mine, you may of had him once but I got him all the time.”

But when compared to her Bravo blog from today about the situation with Roger Bobb and Gocha Hawkins, that Instagram post is nothing. McKinney is now claiming that she and Bobb weren’t together when he was messing with Hawkins, or “Blues Clues” as she calls her:
I went to Kandi’s sexy party in an effort to get to know these ladies a bit better, relax, and enjoy a Kandi Koated Night…and 2-year-old tea gets spilled by random girl #673 hoping for a cameo?! I actually feel bad for her. You need that light so badly that you’d openly confess that your shining moment came from being on your back?! Girl! Never again admit to being a sock (Definition: Something to keep his stuff warm during the cold moment of a break up). I have made it known that Roger and I have been in (and out) of our relationship over the span of 8 years. “Blue’s Clues” happened when we were not together. What he does when we are not together is not my concern and vice versa. The only issue I had was why this old tea was spilling on Kandi’s carpet in front of all these people, most of whom I am just getting to know. I couldn’t understand why this temp from 2 years ago, who claims to be in a fulfilling relationship, felt that needed to be shared in that way.

Demetria McKinney Slams ‘Not Cool’ Phaedra Parks And NeNe Leakes

RadarOnline.com:
Demetria McKinney is one of the newbies on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, but she already knows how to serve up drama! In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, McKinney opened up about her beef with Phaedra Parks and NeNe Leakes, slamming the series vets and revealing what to expect from their feud.

“Do you have time for my thoughts on Phaedra?” McKinney asked during her talk with Radar.

“She is easily intimidated by everybody,” she unloaded. “I understand that life deals everybody a different deck and sometimes the hand you’re dealt isn’t necessarily fair, but turning bitter and turning on everybody around you is just not cool.”

McKinney said that she is “absolutely not” friends with Parks — and that the rumors circulating that Parks carried on an affair with a man reffered to as “Mr. Chocolate” are just karma.

“I know that she’s upset that information is out right now,” McKinney said. “I know it’s really just adding drama to the already drama full life. I can only say that I feel like karma is a b***h and it’s slapping her in the face right now!”

McKinney also said she believes that it’s wrong that Parks isn’t standing by her husband Apollo Nida, during his eight-year prison stint.

“For her to let him take the whole wrap, I think it’s just sad,” McKinney said. “You say so let’s not part through thick and thin and then once it gets thick with something you knew he was capable of, you go running and talking bad about him. It’s just adds to the persona.”

McKinney also doesn’t get along with NeNe Leakes.

“I came into this with a great deal of respect for everybody and I tried to start this journey, even kilter, on a even playing field and let people show me who they were,” she said. “And what I’ve seen from Nene Leakes doesn’t necessarily make me want to go running and connect with her.”

Claudia Jordan Will Cry and Flirt on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ But Says She Won’t Hold Grudges

RadioTVTalk.com:
When Claudia Jordan took the radio job with the Rickey Smiley show back in early summer here in Atlanta, she had already been in contact with “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” producers.

So when she arrived in town from New York in July, the show began filming her the first week she was there to test her out as a possible cast member. At first, she didn’t know if she’d be more than a sidekick to Kenya Moore, her friend and entry point onto the show.

But clearly, the producers liked her sassy, vibrant personality and gave her a full-time cast member status by the fall, once several weeks of taping had been reviewed.

She is a single woman on a show with the word “housewives” on it but she is hardly the first. “People get married. People get divorced. They do have to keep a few wives there. I’d like to get married,” she said in an interview I did last week.

On the show, she said she likes an alpha male but has had trouble finding a keeper. She now has the added pressure of wondering if someone is dating her to get on camera. And she is getting more unsolicited offers. “People definitely reach out to you. They reach out to my publicist. So and so wants to meet you. You have to look at them with more of a side eye.”

Jordan is not a foreigner to reality TV. She has done two rounds of “Celebrity Apprentice.” But that was all about business savvy, she said, and getting along with other celebrities and being creative. “This is about your personal life. It’s about being vulnerable and talking about any issues with dating, with family, with weight, whatever. Your struggles become part of your storyline.”

She said she’s used to being in the public eye with red carpets and work-related questions, but she never before had gone out of her way to flaunt her private issues. “This is definitely an adjustment,” she said.  She said she will be seen crying on camera. (It’s inevitable on “Real Housewives!”)

“I think it’s exhaustion from the crazy schedule, which allows you to be more open. You’re vulnerable when you’re tired. I remember talking to a couple of the women about something that hit close to home. I started crying! I couldn’t help it!”

She understands that viewers want to see your multiple layers, that they do not want  a one dimensional person. “They want to see your struggles and what you have to overcome,” she said. “People want to be inspired as well as entertained.”

Already, Jordan said she is getting blow back based purely on the trailer, which showed her taking a selfie with Porsha Williams‘ ex-husband Kordell Stewart. “It made me look mischievous,” she said. “It makes me look like the bad girl.” So far, the show has not shown that side of her, if it actually exists.

“I’ve known Kordell longer than Porsha,” she said. “He’s a single man. I can take selfies!”

She didn’t come on the show intending to go after anybody. “I want to be someone who is fun and fresh and a little different. I don’t take my self too seriously.”

She said Smiley, her employer, was a little apprehensive about her being on the show. “He doesn’t want drama around the station,” she said. “I don’t want it either. We’ve kept it that way. My priority is the morning show. It’s the meat and potatoes. It’s what keeps everything going. It’s Rickey’s baby.”

As for any competition with Porsha Williams, who does “Dish Nation” with Smiley after her radio show duties are over, she said there is no tension now. “It’s really a non issue,” she said. “We’re so beyond that.”

She hopes that when things that happened months ago appears on air that the women can get past it.

“Sometimes, it opens old wounds,” she said. “Social media can put a little extra stank and pump you up.”

She said she is good at getting past old hurts. “If I’m mad, I never stay mad,” she said. “I wake up the next day and I’m totally over it. I get over things.” She can deal with people who make mistakes but if she senses they are truly bad people. she won’t deal with them.

Jordan said balancing two jobs with strange hours was a rough adjustment. “My voice sounds really stuffy on the show,” she said. “I’ve been sick a lot. I wasn’t getting enough sleep and had severe allergies. I’ve been running myself ragged. I recently had bronchitis. It’s been tough.”

She said she has barely any time to work out. “I put on work-out clothes but it never gets done,” she said. But she has focused on work and has only been late to Smiley’s show once – by three minutes.

Adjusting to the radio show, she said, has been tough. She was getting a lot of well-meaning conflicting advice early on. “Speak faster, speak slower. Jump in more, don’t jump in so much. Everyone was trying to help me. I know what to do. I know how to do radio.” (She hosted a show on Sirius XM for a few years on the Jamie Foxx comedy channel.)

She also appreciates Smiley enabling her to talk about politics and do regular guest spots on HLN. She even flew to Ferguson over the summer. “I was very much involved,” she said. “I love reporting. That’s what I went to school for.”

As last Sunday’s episode shows, she lives in a beautiful high-rise in Midtown.  “I can see the Ferris wheel. I had a friend visit from out of town and we went to the aquarium.  I absolutely love it. I’m a kid in the candy store. I love stuff like that I’m a big nerd when it comes to nature and animals.”

On some of the other housewives:

Demetria McKinney (who will first appear on the Dec. 21 episode): “Demetria and I hit a couple of strip clubs. That was fun She’s a great girl. We have a real friendship.”

Cynthia Bailey: “She and I are extremely close. We talk every day. We have modeling and New York connections. And she’s just the type of person I relate to. People want to call her a lapdog or weak. She’s far from weak. She’s extremely supportive of other people and that can be taken for weakness. But you have to be a strong, secure person to support another person and put their needs over your own. Cynthia is a good friend but some people don’t deserve her friendship.”

Kandi Burruss: “I love her. I’ve seen her around talked about doing business. I respect her. She doesn’t see the other women as a threat.” (Has she bought any sex toys from Kandi’s line? “I’m not big on sex toys. All my friends back in L.A. say, ‘You have nothing. You need to build up your collection!’ My bad!”)
