Three seasons into "Real Housewives of Dallas," and Carey Deuber is still learning to navigate the best way to showcase her multi-faceted life on reality television.

The licensed nurse went into the current third season of the franchise after dodging allegations last year about her husband's sexuality and the origins of their marriage, so, as she put it, there was nowhere to go for her but up.

With a new laser center and a home renovation on the horizon, too, Deuber has a lot in the cards this season, which she promises will result in some major changes that even she didn't see coming. 

Cary Deuber recently sat down with AOL to talk about the third season of "Real Housewives of Dallas," what it's like being the most liberal cast member on the show and how she and LeeAnne were able to see past their differences this year.

Congratulations on this third season! With multiple "to be continued" episodes already, it's clearly been a great season so far. What's the reaction been from what you've seen?
It’s been really positive. Last year was a great one, and coming off of that it’s going to be even better this year. From a personal standpoint for me, it’s better because it couldn’t have gotten worse. It’s been a much more even-keel year for me.

You and your husband, Mark, fought off a ton of allegations last year that kind of took things to another level for you guys. After going through something like that, do you step back and consider not coming back to the show?
Hell yeah! My husband and I are like, “We don’t need this, this isn’t something that we need to do.” We did it for something fun and something to help our business. We wanted to try it. It’s not every day that Bravo calls you and asks if you want to be on a show, and I decided that it’s worth the risk. With every risk, there’s always a downside. My husband and I went through that and came out stronger on the other side, but it was definitely a struggle. We had a few discussions and a lot of tough, dark days. Our kids did, too. I think some people don’t think about that impact on your family and the impact it has on your people. My step-kids are adults, so they got it and it was a struggle for them.

Cary Deuber Faces Off with Brandi Redmond Over Affair Accusations

“Nannygate” came to a head on Monday’s Real Housewives of Dallas, as Cary Deuber  sat down with Brandi Redmond for a tense one-on-one chat.

As RHOD fans will remember, last week, Redmond claimed that the 41-year-old registered nurse’s relationship to plastic surgeon and now-husband Mark Deuber began as a workplace affair while he was married to another woman and she was both his surgical assistant and the nanny to his children.

“I don’t understand the character assassination,” Cary told Redmond on Monday, denying the affair. “Saying that I was Mark’s nanny and all of that b——-. What did I do that was so bad that you went below the belt? I don’t understand — if I have friends like that, who needs enemies? Like, oh my God. Let’s cut the shit. Why is it a bad secret that I watched the kids? I watched your kid in Memphis, I’m not f—— you!”

“It’s called a job. I work. I was working for four different plastic surgeons,” Cary said, explaining that Mark’s two kids from his previous marriage — Gary, 20, and Laura, 16 — weren’t the only two children she was watching. “I watched all of their kids because you know why? They f—— trusted me as a responsible adult…  You were totally trying to start s—!”

It was just one of many heated confrontations between Cary and Redmond in recent weeks.

Their arguing started at a dinner in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where Cary debunked Redmond’s claims that she had previously said Redmond’s “Mommy Makeover” plastic surgeon had killed people on the operating table. Battles continued in Mexico, including a rocky boat ride that Cary later left claiming, “I can’t be friends with [Brandi and Stephanie Hollman].”

Redmond wasn’t having any of it, especially Cary’s insinuation that she was a liar.

Newly Engaged LeeAnne Locken Threatened to Strangle Cary Deuber

LeeAnne Locken promised fans and her Real Housewives of Dallas costars that she had turned over a new leaf this season, even going to therapy to get a hold of some of her anger management problems.

But on Monday’s episode, it looked like “the old LeeAnne” was back in full force when — frustrated over digs costar Cary Deuber had made about her plastic surgeon — Locken popped off and promised that Deuber’s words were going to get her “in big trouble.”

“Why is it so f—— important to Cary to come for me all the time?” Locken asked friend Brandi Redmond while waiting in the office of Dr. Robert True hours before having her breasts redone.

“Because I’m gonna do something. She’s gonna come for me one day, and it isn’t gonna be pretty.”

“I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth,” Locken continued. “I grew up with a lot of things in my hands, and they’re not knives, they’re just hands. But they work quite well.”

They were big threats to make to Deuber, who is a registered nurse and operative assistant to her plastic surgeon husband Mark. But Locken felt that Deuber had thrown the first punch by claiming Dr. True wasn’t board-certified as a plastic surgeon.

“He’s triple board-certified,” Locken said in defense of Dr. True. “He’s a board-certified OBGYN, a board-certified plastic surgeon and a board-certified hormone replacement specialist. He is a great guy even though Cary has issues with him. He handles all of my hormones. He does all of my botox.”

“I didn’t bring up surgery around her especially because I didn’t want her disrespecting my doctor. And what does she do? Disrespect my doctor,” Locked added to Redmond.

Cary Deuber was one of the most talk about ladies on “The Real Housewives of Dallas” during their inaugural season last year, but this year she is playing a little bit more of a peacemaker role during the series’ second season. With two new Housewives and some strife between two Season 1 ladies, Cary has her hands full trying to keep her husband Mark and her family happy, as well as trying to help things go smoothly with her fellow ladies of the Lone Star State. I had a talk with Cary about signing on for Season Two of #RHOD, moving forward with fellow castmate LeeAnne Locken, and what it’s like balancing family with reality television. 

Everyone is excited that you came back and you were a fan favorite on last season of “The Real Housewives of Dallas”. What is different this year for Season Two? You know, I think it’s different having new girls with us, that kind of changes things. Having one season under my belt personally I think I definitely knew what to expect this time around too. Last year I was kind of like “what’s going on”, I mean just the dynamic you don’t know what it’s going to be like until you really get in there. I mean, I am friends with these girls, but I saw them in different groups. When you put them all in the same friend group though, it can get a little crazy.

You have two new girls in the mix with D’Andra Simmons and Kameron Wescott coming on board, and Tiffany Hendra and Marie Reyes not returning. How different are things with new ladies in the mix with the rest of you? It’s a lot different, for me especially, probably because i have known these ladies so long. I have known D’Andra for about ten years, and I’ve known her mother and her family, and I have known Kameron for about six years. The three of us actually know each other through a local charity that we have all been with for about ten years so I know them really well. As for the other ladies, I miss Tiffany somewhat, she was always friendly and I think she and Aaron were great. With these new ladies though, I at least have reinforcements a little bit. (laughs).

Last year you and your husband Mark had a rough time with co-star LeeAnne Locken. Have things improved since you last run-in at the reunion? You know things are better, she has apologized. I personally am just getting over being blindsided by the whole thing, because it really was completely out of nowhere. LeeAnne and I are now getting to a better place, we have both put in effort. I give both of us an “A” for effort at least and we will see how that goes. You’ll have to wait and see how that goes! (laughs).

Cary Deuber Talks Making Nice with LeeAnne Locken

Cary Deuber grabbed her star and got in formation for The Real Housewives of Dallas’ second season -- and she totally gets that that might sound crazy.

“Sometimes you think, is there something wrong with you?” she jokes to ET. “Are you mentally ill? No, you know what? In the end, I follow through with everything and I thought, I’m not done with this.”

Cary arguably had the hardest first season of the RHOD cast, with co-star LeeAnne Locken sharing “information” that called Cary’s marriage into question, all of which Cary adamantly denied. It got so bad, Cary even walked off the reunion show in tears. Still, she was ready for round two -- with the show, and LeeAnne.

“You know, LeeAnne approached me and apologized, and I felt better about it,” Cary shares. “I think I want to be her friend … but, you know, it takes some getting over.”

“It's gonna take a minute, boo,” she adds. “I'm not gonna just run over and be like, OK … I'm definitely putting forth the effort, but you're going to have to wait and see what happens with that.”

Cary teases that fans will see “a little bit of bonding” between her and LeeAnne this season, but wouldn’t say whether that leads to a lasting relationship.

How Cary Deuber Defies Every Reality TV Stereotype

When you think about a typical Real Housewife, the first attribute that comes to mind isn’t necessarily all the ways this person gives back. But Real Housewives of Dallas star Cary Deuber—also a registered nurse—truly defies stereotypes. Not only is she down to earth but she considers giving back to be the most important part of her celebrity status.

“I enjoy helping people,” Deuber says. “It makes me happy to help others—it’s in my personality and DNA.”

For Deuber, this means actively engaging as a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor—she’s spent the year being a “Big” to her “Little,” Leslie—a Dallas third grader, with whom she was paired after a rigorous application process.

“I’ll go to her school and have lunch with her and play games,” she says. “We make each other cards, and we have a little box where we keep all of our memories.”

Deuber will return to her every-other-week meetings with Leslie once school starts again in the fall.

“Leslie wants to be a dentist when she grows up, and it’s my dream to help her achieve her goals,” she says. “I love talking to her about her future goals and Leslie has changed my life just much as I have changed hers She teaches me a lot.”

This mom of a 4-year-old daughter and stepmother to a 17-year-old and 20-year-old, has also spent the past decade traveling abroad with her husband, a plastic surgeon, to countries including Belize and India, on overseas medical aid missions.

Her cause: Helping those with cleft palate and those in need of craniofacial reconstruction.

“I’ll never forget helping this one in girl in India who had a cleft lip and palate,” she says of a surgery performed about 11 years ago. “She had been sold to a husband for her dowry and was beaten every day by him. Once we fixed it, her whole family was so happy.”

Recently, Deuber began partnering with Amanda Gosman, a plastic surgeon in San Diego and founder of ConnectMed International, a non-profit that Gosman founded in 2010 to provide free reconstructive surgery and education to underserved communities worldwide. Most days, you’ll find Deuber in the operating room with Gosman.

D'Andra Simmons and Kameron Westcott Join 'Real Housewives of Dallas'

The Real Housewives of Dallas is back, and a lot has changed with our favorite Lone Star ladies. From new friends to new enemies, RHOD is going to be a whole new rodeo when it returns for Season 2 on Monday, August 14 at 10/9c.

We're going to say howdy to two new Housewives this season: may D'Andra Simmons and Kameron Westcott. D'Andra be a prominent socialite in the city, but she describes herself as "not a typical wealthy Dallas housewife" and someone who's "pretty ballsy." That should come in handy as she tries to take over the family business, even if her mother isn't so keen on letting go just yet. California native Kameron has also come to dazzle the Dallas social scene, and "is like a real-life Elle Woods from Legally Blonde," according to Cary Deuber. We mean, she is blonde and is obsessed with the color pink and dogs, so much so that she's developing an organic and natural pink dog food line. And now we can't wait to meet these newbies.

Cary, Stephanie Hollman, LeeAnne Locken, and Brandi Redmond will all be back for more drama and fun this season of RHOD. Even among these returning Housewives, some friendships ain't what they used to be as onetime besties Stephanie and Brandi are now on the outs, with Cary getting caught up in their feud. Of course, there's lots of drama in store for LeeAnne too as she tries to repair her friendships with the RHOD crew with the help of anger management.


But there's plenty of wild times ahead for the RHOD squad this season as well, featuring the likes of hot dog costumes, sex toys on vacation, and one raucous night out on a yacht. Need we say more?

It all goes down when RHOD returns on Monday, August 14 at 10/9c.

Cary Deuber Sets the Record Straight on Her Marriage

After a season of accusations and allegations about how they first got together, Real Housewives of Dallas stars Mark and Cary Deuber are setting the record straight with ET.

"Some people tried to imply that Cary was a homewrecker, and she stole her husband, and that's not how things went down at all," Mark says.

Co-star LeeAnne Locken seemed to imply multiple times throughout the Bravo series' first season that Cary and Mark first got romantic while Mark was still married. The couple has worked together for years -- Mark is a plastic surgeon, while Cary is his first assistant and nurse. 

"We've actually known each other for 15 or 16 years," Mark explains. "I was a resident, and she was a young nurse at the hospital … Then, I had been in practice about three or four years, and she came to work for me. The reason she did that is because I was doing a lot of complex types of reconstructive surgery that required an operative assistant."

"Which is why I wanted to work for him," Cary explains. "Not because I wanted to sleep with him!"

The couple says over the years, they became close friends, as colleagues do. Mark and his family even attended Cary's second wedding, a marriage Cary confesses lasted "a skinny minute."

"I don't want to trash my first marriage or my ex-wife," Mark shares, "but suffice it to say, I was not in a good place for a long time in my marriage. I think I gained a lot of weight, I drank a lot. I think I was just not taking care of myself at all ... I started taking care of myself, and I started losing weight, and I was kind of checked out on my marriage."

LeeAnne involved her friend, Heidi Dillon, in the Cary-Mark rumor mill. In one episode, Heidi scoffed, "Most of the women in Dallas got their rich husbands because, at one point, they were on their knees under his desk, right? That's what I know of Cary."

"It's certainly been implied that we were sneaking around," Mark responds. "I mean, a lot of what was said was true: we did work together, and we did wind up getting together, and we're married now. And you know what? Things like that happen. We did not sneak around and have an affair."

"We definitely got together quickly after he got separated," Cary admits. "But there was a line drawn."

If you thought things were about to cool down after last week's Real Housewives of Dallas blowout, think again.

In an exclusive sneak peek at Monday's season finale, LeeAnne Locken and Tiffany Hendra decide to confront Marie Reyes – again – about leaking the now-infamous story of Locken pooping in a car to the rest of the girls, except this time, Cary Deuber decides to come to Reyes' defense.

"I gave you the opportunity to admit that you told the story," Hendra tells Reyes. "Who could have told the story to Taylor? There were only three of us in the car!"

Reyes adamantly denies it was her, and Hendra grows increasingly frustrated. 

"You're f---ing lying!" she says.

Meanwhile, Locken thinks this isn't the time or place to settle their issues.

"Sitting down with Tiffany and Marie and hashing out any of this here is the last thing I want to do," she tells the camera. "I get that Tiffany is still pissed for me, but we're not going to open [the other girls'] eyes like this."

At the same time, Deuber and Brandi Redmond are watching the argument unfold from across the room, shaking their heads.

"Who stands up for themselves with LeeAnne?" Deuber asks. "Nobody, 'cause she's a bully, and they're scared of her. I'm not scared of her."

Deuber then makes her way over to the three other women and interrupts, asking to chat with Locken one-on-one, but that little sit-down quickly descends to chaos.

"I get that you don't approve of how I live or who I am," Locken starts.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal a sneak peek from the upcoming Real Housewives of Dallas supersized reunion, airing June 19, and it's safe to say the tension between Cary Deuber and LeeAnne Locken – which has been building all season – comes to a head when Cary confronts Locken for spreading rumors she stole her husband Mark Deuber from his previous wife.

"So, you two did not have an affair?" host Andy Cohen asks Cary and Mark.

Cary, crying, shakes her head and says, "No."

Cohen then asks Brandi Redmond if she'd overheard Locken "out parroting this information," which Redmond confirms, but maintains she "didn't want any part of it."

When asked why she never confronted Cary about the alleged husband-stealing, Locken chalks it up to the fact that she and Cary "don't get along."

"We've never gotten along," she adds. "We haven't gotten along since before Cary actually even knew me."

"That is not true!" Cary counters. "I called you, we had conversations."

"We had one conversation," Locken says.

"Before this show, I never had a problem with you, but you said that I did," Cary says.

How LeeAnne Locken Went from Working at Carnivals to the Elite Charity Scene

People say, "Everything is bigger in Texas," and Bravo's newest reality show, The Real Housewives of Dallas, certainly doesn't challenge the idea. From the McMansions to the diamond rings, the charity function guest lists to the Botox bills, it seems like everything in Dallas is pretty goddamn big.

Cast member LeeAnne Locken's personality is no exception. From slapping moving trolleys—this is not a euphemism, but literal—to telling rival Housewives that their "charity world is going to go down the toilet," Locken has already sealed her place as an iconic Housewife across all franchises.

Part of Locken's appeal is how she is able to deliver on the unbelievable things she says. The tagline that introduces her before each episode is "I grew up a carny kid. Play games with me, and you're gonna pay," and it's true: Though Locken's grandparents raised her, she spent the summers with her mother, who remarried a man who was in the carnival business. Every year when school got out, Locken said she would fly to wherever her mother was and work at the carnival. At age three, she started working at the duck pond game. After a few summers, she graduated to the balloon game, where it was her job to sit behind the board and blow up balloons to replace those participants popped.

"Blow 'em, wrap 'em, tie 'em, hang' em," she told me. "You had to be able to blow up 20 balloons in ten minutes. I got really good at it."

When she was 11, Locken purchased her first game so she could have her own business. For the next five years, she said she bought and sold games, and even had adults working for her.

But everything changed when she turned 16 and started noticing boys.

"Early on, I was like, [working at the carnival] is normal, it's no big deal," she said. "Then I got to high school and was like, why is everyone calling me a circus freak? It was very painful."

Locken quit the carnival to be more "normal," but she was quickly swept in another direction, probably as equally eccentric: the world of beauty pageants.

Her neighbors secretly submitted her application to Miss Houston USA, and soon after Locken received a call inviting her to participate. She spent the next few years repeatedly placing as a finalist in both the Miss Texas and Miss Houston USA pageants and even going on to win the latter.

In the late 1980s, she moved to Arizona to take care of her mother, who had lupus and was getting very sick. Her mother begged her to enter the Miss Arizona pageant. Locken did, and won.

"The bad part was that the girl who crowned me was the older sister of the first runner-up, so I kind of destroyed their pageant legacy," Locken said. "It wasn't very well received—everyone kept calling me Miss Arizona from Texas." She would go on to place sixth in the Miss USA pageant (and to appear as Miss Nebraska in 2000's Miss Congeniality, which she told Bravo she "loved").

Both of these experiences have helped her become an influential member of the Dallas charity scene and, indirectly, a member of the Real Housewives cast. From the carnival, she says she learned to be good with money and an amazing sales person, making "a tremendous amount of cash every summer."

"That was my job," Locken told me. "I came home [from first grade] and was like, OK, I learned how to make change, so now I don't have to go back to school. I thought that was what they sent me to school for."

Cary Deuber Talks Plastic Surgery, How She Met Her Husband and Being on 'Real Housewives of Dallas'

Cary is an avid practitioner of yoga, and spends her downtime meditating. What downtime, Cary? You have a baby daughter, two step-children and three dogs!
You’re on the shamelessly addicting Bravo docu-series The Real Housewives of Dallas. Why did you want to join this show?

I’ll try anything once in life. The more risks you take the higher the reward. I felt like this show wasn’t something on my bucket list but once it was presented to me I couldn’t turn it down. It’s not like Bravo comes knocking on doors every day!

You’re originally from the East Coast! What’s the best childhood memory you have from Connecticut?

I loved the fall. The leaves and going to the pumpkin patches to pick out a pumpkin. I miss the four seasons but love the warm weather here in Dallas.

You’re a CRNFA certified registered nurse first assistant that has actively led and participated in multiple medical mission trips, focusing on pediatric surgeries in various third world countries. Why did you choose pediatrics? What did you learn from your experience as a nurse?

I love giving back. I feel like helping others is one of the best things you can do for yourself. It teaches you compassion and what life is all about...giving. I work with adults in the states so it is a nice change of pace to work with children. These kids can’t eat and are struggling to survive. They have craniofacial congenital anomalies that are fixable with surgery. It is the most amazing feeling being a part of a team that saves and betters their lives.

People PRETEND to find balance in their life. What are your priorities?

My priority is my family and work comes second. Everything I do, I do to benefit them. I also think it is hard as a mother to juggle hubby and kids. Husband comes first! Happy parents are better parents and that trickles down to the kids.

How did you meet your plastic surgeon husband Dr. Mark Deuber? Have you had plastic surgery?

I met Mark when he was a resident at UT Southwestern and I worked at Baylor University Medical Center. I have had plastic surgery. I have breast implants and had liposuction many years ago. I also have Botox and fillers.

Cary Deuber wears many hats, and we're not just talking about the one she wore at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party on the second episode of "Real Housewives of Dallas."

As one of the stars of Bravo's newest "Housewives" franchise, Deuber has made it a point to remain an "open book," putting a big ole Dallas spotlight on the many roles she plays in her daily life: Mother, wife, certified nurse first assistant and, now, "Real Housewife."

Throughout the first three episodes of Dallas' first season, the mother to a baby daughter and two step-children has positioned herself smack dab in the middle of two opposing sides of Texas' glitziest city. There's LeeAnne Locken and Tiffany Hendra on one side, while Brandi Redmond and Stephanie Hollman are on the other. Though it appears as though she gravitates more towards the latter side, Deuber told us that she doesn't want to choose sides.

We chatted exclusively with Deuber recently at the AOL headquarters in New York City about the "Real Housewives of Dallas," why being a Housewife is harder than it seems, that fake poop incident at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and those accusations that she fat-shamed her husband.

What has it been like, now that a couple of episodes have aired?

It's been harder than I thought. I'm a nurse, I'm a mom, I'm a friend, I'm a wife and I have a million responsibilities. I'm a certified nurse first assistant, so I operate with my husband. I do injectables for his practice, as well. So, I'm spread pretty thin. And "Housewives" is not just the filming: There's also a ton of press, and I'm not sure I was totally prepared for that aspect of it.

I don't know that I was prepared for some of the negative comments, either, because people can be really mean. I'm so positive; I'm a yogi. Negativity really affects me and goes against my inner self. My whole being, really. It's shocking to me how negative people can be. That's definitely been harder than I thought, but everything is part of the journey, and I think you have to go through those darker areas to get to the positive ones.

I must say, it's been refreshing to have you on the show. I love it when "Real Housewives" have additional careers and showcase them on the show, and you've been doing that with yours as a nurse. Was it important for you to put a spotlight on that aspect of your life?

Yeah, because I think that it's something that's unique to me, especially compared to other Housewives. It's hard to hold down two jobs, because being a Housewife on the show is also a job. Actually, I have three jobs, because I'm also a mom! I wanted people to see that I have a strong work ethic, and that I'm a strong, working mother. I think that it's a nice thing for people to see that they maybe haven't seen before.
