Besides shopping and spending money, playing the victim is one of the things Jill Zarin does best:
At the end of the last season of "The Real Housewives of New York City," things weren't looking good for Jill Zarin. Her friendship with castmate Bethenny Frankel was in ruins. Alex McCord had denounced her over cocktails.
When she showed up at Ramona Singer's getaway in the Virgin Islands, no amount of Pinot Grigio could kill the tension.
"I was ganged up on by Alex, Bethenny and Ramona," she says. "It's so last year and it's so over that I don't want to talk about it anymore. ... But let me tell you, it's hard to fight three against one. One on one is one thing. Three on one, not so even."
Zarin had experienced the curse of Bravo's "Housewives" franchise. Each cast has to create enough drama to fill a season, which means everyone gets to be the villainess at some point.
"There's always a housewife or housewives who 'take a hit,' as I like to call it," she says. "The first season, Alex took the hit. The second season, Ramona took it. And LuAnn [De Lesseps]. Last season, well, it was clearly the Jill Zarin-hit season."
Which isn't to say she was blameless. She refused Bethenny's efforts at reconciliation and missed the announcement of Bethenny's engagement. When Jill wanted to make amends on the season finale, it was too little, too late.
