Hollywood dog rescuer Lizzie Scherer was forced to shut down her controversial Saving Spot rescue by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra last week.RELATED: Watch Out, Erika Jayne! Lisa Vanderpump Has Recorded an Album
“Understand that when the Attorney General’s Office issues a cease-and-desist order, it’s not because it’s the first time we knock on someone’s door and say you’re doing something wrong,” Becerra told CBS LA, which reported on Scherer last May and discovered her tax-exempt status had been revoked by the IRS.
Separately, Scherer and her charity director Ira DeWitt went after “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump and husband Ken Todd last month, seeking $500,000 for breach of contract, fraud and physical assault after a dispute over the shelter. The case against the reality show canine couple has been thrown out.
“There is a legal issue and a moral issue, just because they got off on a legal technicality doesn’t excuse their actions,” DeWitt told us. Their lawyer Lisa Bonner added, “We had no choice but to dismiss after we filed because of a corporate issue that happened after we filed.
Lisa told the Daily Mail on Friday, “I am pleased that we stood steadfast against these egregious claims.”
