The troubled “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star was arrested Sunday and charged with one count of petty theft for allegedly attempting to steal a shopping cart full of merchandise from a Target in Van Nuys, California.
“Richards was caught by store security attempting to take more than 100 items valued at approximately $612. They were in the shopping cart and she was not concealing them. She just rolled on out,” a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office told Page Six.
The 50-year-old reality star should be used to having cameras on her all the time — and her trip to the retail giant was no exception. Target loss prevention officers detained Richards shortly after she wheeled her haul into the parking lot around 4:25 p.m. without paying, the Van Nuys Police Department said.
After spending Sunday night in jail, the former child star was released Monday around 1:50 p.m. after she posted $5,000 bail. Richards pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge and has a pre-trial court date Aug. 20.
“I’m not aware that she was under the influence although toxicology is not generally done with shoplifting cases,” added the LA city attorney’s spokesperson.
