This is sad for me because Bethenny's always been my favorite 'Housewife' and I've always rooted for her. Hopefully if they can't reconcile, for Bryn's sake, this doesn't become a long and bitter divorce:
The reality of being a housewife has caught up with Bethenny Frankel.
The former co-star of the “Real Housewives of New York City,” says she and her husband of nearly three years, Jason Hoppy, have split up.
“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating,”
Frankel, 42, said in a statement Sunday. “This was an extremely
difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the
best choice for our family.”
From meeting to wedding to birth of their 2-year-old child, Bryn, the
couple’s ups and downs, fights, foibles and makeups have been
ratings-spiking fodder for reality TV.
Frankel, a chef, author and wildly successful entrepreneur, said the
couple will not part on bitter terms. “We have love and respect for one
another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and
will always remain our first priority,” she said.
“This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us,” Frankel said.
The couple’s relationship has been on the rocks for months, but until now they have denied their marriage was in trouble.
Hoppy, 41, a pharmaceutical sales rep and New York City real estate broker, could not be reached for comment.
He hasn’t been pleased with his soon-to-be ex-wife’s career ambitions or her big mouth.
She is the creator of the Skinnygirl line of cocktails, food and
nutritional products. She’s also the host of a daytime talk show on FOX.
Earlier this year, Hoppy was said to be enraged at Frankel for going public about their sex life, according to press reports.
In an interview with Life & Style magazine, she said Hoppy’s “penis
has cobwebs on it” because of their lack of sex. The comment prompted a
spike in the ratings for her reality show “Bethenny Ever After.”
Back in 2011, Frankel’s estranged mother, Bernadette Birk, predicted the marriage wouldn’t last.
“Right now, he is a good father, but soon she won’t need him and she
will dump him,” Birk told Star magazine. “Her husband seems like a
really nice guy, but it won’t last. He is really too weak for her.”
Frankel and Hoppy met at the Tenjune nightclub in the Meatpacking
District in 2008. Eleven months later, when Frankel was seven months
pregnant, they got engaged.
Their March 2010 wedding at the Four Seasons restaurant was shown on
their Bravo reality show “Bethenny Getting Married?” as was the birth of
their daughter in May of that year.
Before they wed, the couple agreed to a prenup that ensures Frankel
gets to keep her earnings from business deals and endorsements.
