OCRegister.com:
Do you miss “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” now that we’re in the off-season?
Fear not, fanatics. NBC will start airing the beloved (and loathed?) Orange County-based reality TV series from the very beginning today at 3 p.m. The show will start with season 1, episode 1 and continue on weekdays at 3 until the final episode of season 5.
After the Peacock network is done with Orange County, it will move on to “The Real Housewives of New York City” and then Atlanta — again, in their entirety.
It’s all part of a universal domestic television distribution deal that is syndicating the “Housewives” franchise for nationwide broadcast. And it’s part of an effort to compete with daytime soaps (and the final season of “Oprah”) without having to generate original programming. The reality shows are expected to hit 98 percent of the U.S. syndicated market.
According to Nielsen Media research data, season 5 of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” increased 235 percent in women 18-49 since its spring 2006 debut on Bravo.
