Apollo Nida better crack open his wallet.RELATED: Phaedra Parks Wasn't at Apollo Nida's Sentencing Because She's "Pissed" and "Embarrassed"
Nida, who appears on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” with his wife Phaedra Parks, has been ordered to pay nearly $2 million in restitution, after he was convicted of conspiring to commit mail, wire and bank fraud.
Nida must pay $1.95 million, with various amounts going to, among many others, JP Morgan Chase (to which Nida owes $828.000), the IRS, Delta Airlines, and the states of California, Connecticut and Texas.
The restitution is “due and payable immediately,” according to court papers obtained by TheWrap.
The “Real Housewives” personality's restitution hearing was scheduled for Thursday, but it has since been cancelled.
As TheWrap previously reported, Nida was sentenced to eight years in federal prison on July 8. He had faced up to a 30 year sentence.
According to United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates, beginning in August 2009, Nida and others obtained stolen checks by taking them or buying them from other criminal associates. The stolen checks involved in the scheme included United States Treasury checks, as well as checks stolen from the pension fund of Delta Airlines. They also obtained funds by filing fraudulent tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service and making fraudulent claims against the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and at least eleven states, all in the names of victims whose identities had been stolen.
