It may not be the end of the road after all for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Adrienne Maloof and husband Dr. Paul Nassif.RELATED: Real Housewives star Adrienne Maloof removes her wedding ring... a week after her husband takes his off after split
Just days after the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon filed for legal separation from his wife of more than 10 years, Maloof, 50, made her first public appearance since the split, promoting her co-designed OMG! Brandz cell phone cases at Kitson boutique Wednesday in L.A., at an event co-hosted by Sweet E's Bakeshop.
"We're at that point where it's that bump in the road, [but] we're trying to work things out," the reality star, looking trim in a hip-hugging dress, tells PEOPLE. "I always like to keep a positive attitude and hope that we can resolve our differences."
One of the things Maloof thinks may help keep her family together are the kids she shares with Nassif – their three sons, Gavin and twins Colin and Christian.
"It's always about the children and what's in their best interests," Maloof says. "I love my children. They come before anything I've ever done. They're healthy, happy kids. I want to keep them that way."
She adds, "What's important is to not be showing them on camera. If they want to go into that business when they're older, that's fine. But I've really protected my children."
No matter what, she acknowledges that her on-screen presence during the upcoming third season of her Bravo reality show won't be tame.
"You can expect a lot of drama," she says. "Some things never change. [The drama is] amped-up a little bit more on my end."
No matter what happens on the show or in her private life, Maloof says she will "look forward to moving forward in a positive and hopefully happy direction."
Trying can only be a bad thing if paired with a lack of boundaries and self esteem. I hope they both find the direction that is healthiest and best for their family. Best wishes to them both.
