It's about freaking time:
Are you ready to find out who’s returning to the sophomore season of The Real Housewives of Miami? As THR first reported on Wednesday, Bravo is giving the series another go-around, but not all the women will be back for Season 2.RELATED: Model a Miami Housewife?
The returning Season 1 cast members are PR maven Marysol Patton, political fundraiser and socialite Lea Black, and art curator Audriana de Moura. Bravo won’t officially name the new cast mates until after shooting begins this month and it’s sure whose story lines work best.
Thursday’s release also confirms THR’s report that Matt Anderson and Nate Green’s production company Purveyors of Pop will helm the second season. They’re also the production team behind the network’s successful Atlanta, New Jersey, and New York Real Housewives installments in addition to Bethenny Ever After.
Bravo is clearly hoping for better luck the second time around. Season 1, which consisted of just six episodes and a reunion special, averaged just 1.09 million viewers an episode.
So, why revisit Miami now? The timing could be ripe. The franchise is enjoying an upswing in popularity with the media coverage around The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and record ratings for Atlanta. Also, Tuesday's seventh season return of the Orange County series attracted 2.3 million viewers, a 10% increase among total viewers compared to the previous season premiere.
I feel Miami deserves a second chance. Glad Bravo got rid of Larsa Pippen and Christy Rice, total mean girls. They belong on Basketball Wives. I was surprised Alexia was not asked back. Since the RHNY firings, most producers are recasting. I wonder if DC will come back with another cast?
