Taylor Armstrong Talks Domestic Abuse At Denver Convention

DenverPost.com:
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has something the rest of the catty, so-called reality shows about ostentatious wealth don’t have. Bravo’s RHOBH has Taylor Armstrong and her all-too-real revelations of domestic violence.

Now that she’s aired her story in primetime, withstood the pain of husband Russell’s suicide last summer and written a book, “Hiding From Reality,” she’s tackling her next chapter. As a newly minted celebrity spokeswoman for an advocacy group, Armstrong will deliver the keynote speech to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Denver on Sunday.

She aims to “spread the word so people in dangerous relationships know there are resources,” Armstrong said by phone from Los Angeles, “so women don’t run past red flags like I did.”

“It doesn’t matter if I’m in the Bronx or Oklahoma (her home state), women have told me the same stories over and over. They keep holding out hope things will change. It never does. That’s something people need to really wrap their heads around. Understand the cycle and why a person stays. In season 2 (of “Housewives”), you saw some of the girls start to turn their backs on me, they couldn’t understand why I would keep going back.”

I have contacted the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (information listed above) to vigorously protest the appearance by Ms. Armstrong for Sunday's keynote address. This is what I wrote:

34 yrs. ago, I fled a violent first marriage, and I still have physical and emotional scars to remind me each day of the trauma I went through. I take the subject of domestic violence extremely seriously.

I am appalled that Ms. Taylor Armstrong (aka Shana Lynette Hughes Taylor Ford Armstrong) is being featured as the keynote speaker on Sunday at the conference in Denver. There are abundant facts and timelines that absolutely refute her stories, such as her suborbital fracture. She has repeatedly lied on both seasons of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and those lies are apparent when clips of her stories are played back-to-back. The failure to vet this woman who is a proven scammer and fraud is appalling to me. Just one example is that she lied and misrepresented herself as a Ford relative. She and her late husband Russell Armstrong have been sued by MMR, and their scam ruined the lives of many people, including senior citizens on fixed incomes. After the ruling against her, she has only returned a fraction of what she and Russell boldly stole from innocent investors. There are abundant video clips of her physical and verbal aggression toward other cast members on the reality show. She repeatedly drinks to excess and causes disruption and chaos. Is this really the person you want standing before true victims of domestic violence?!!

I am disgusted with your organization’s failure to select an honorable individual to present the key note address on Sunday.
