Lea Black Talks Season 3 of 'Real Housewives of Miami'

MiamiHerald.com:
Lea Black went all L.A. on us this summer. The businesswoman/philanthropist, husband Roy Black and their son R.J., 12, packed up for the family’s West Coast abode. One issue has been the weather. “To me, it’s cold right now — can you imagine?” said Black, who came back to town Tuesday to ring in season 3 of The Real Housewives of Miami at Lou La Vie in downtown Miami.

We talked about all she has going on — from the Bravo series (returning 9 p.m. Monday) to her new line of accessories and skincare products.

You’ve been in La-La land. Seen any celebrities?
It’s kind of like, ‘Oh, there goes another one!’ Just the other night we ran into Larry David at Spago. I wouldn’t have even noticed, but we were with my husband’s friend, who said that he was one of his favorites. I also saw Al Pacino and Goldie Hawn, but I know her. I even get recognized. People come up and want their picture taken with me. I’m sure it’s the standard line they tell all the girls, ‘Oh, you’re my favorite!’

The cast is down to only five Housewives. How’s that going?
Everyone had to know they weren’t going to keep that many people on forever. Some may be seen hanging out or making appearances. I think they reduced it because the audience wants to get to know us a little better. I think those remaining were the ones [fans] were most interested in, but I can’t say for sure. Bravo is giving us a great time slot and putting a lot of muscle behind it.

Your plot line won’t revolve around your gala as much, correct?
For the first two years I didn’t showcase any of my product lines because I didn’t want to be that Housewife. But I’ve had my skin line for 20 or so years, plus now my pocketbooks and accessories (www.worldofleablack.com). This is my work and it sort of organically happened — I can’t take time off and go and film. They have to capture my life.

Are you at least having some fun doing the show? How much drama can we expect?
It’s all work — don’t let anyone tell you anything different. And yes, there’s constant drama. [Fellow Housewives] work really hard to drag you down into it, whether you want it or not. Instead of just sitting down to resolve it, they’ll kick and scream and fight. Some of these girls are just feisty. I think they have a lot of conflict in their lives. That’s what they do, that’s how they deal. I don’t necessarily like to stress, but if that is how they handle situations and you’re in that environment with them, you just have to react. There’s no other way around it!
