Alexia Echevarria In Hot Water Over Hialeah Diss

MiamiHerald.com:
It’s OK for The Real Housewives to bare their claws in the show’s trademark catfights.

But don’t trash talk Hialeah.

That’s the lesson Alexia Echevarria — the self-proclaimed “Cuban Barbie’’ on The Real Housewives of Miami — learned this week after dissing the city’s 250,000 residents on the cable network.

She apologized Wednesday for comments about Hialeah locals being “lower” that sparked an online firestorm and strong stirring of Hialeah and Cuban-American pride.

It’s the latest drama from the reality TV franchise that has become a pop culture phenomena — a guilty pleasure for viewers who enjoy watching rich women from Orange County to New Jersey flip tables and call each other whores.

On the Miami show’s second episode Tuesday night, Echevarria’s seeming put-down started simply enough when the 43-year-old magazine editor addressed the camera about her glossy magazine, Venue.

She referred to Hialeah residents as “lower’’ and wanting to live vicariously through the socialites portrayed in her magazine that caters to Hispanics.

One reason some took issue with Echevarria’s comment: She is married to Herman Echevarria, a former Hialeah City Council president, former chairman of the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce and Industries and a well-connected marketing executive.

  1. I am sorry if the truth hurts. Hialeah people are the lowest of the low. I should know, I had to live in that cesspool for 1 year. When my time was up, I flew like a bat out of hell. Hialeah is the toilet of Miami.

  2. That bleach blonde hair is damaging her brain. How can she talk about Hialeah that way. She is the most stupidist person. Doesn't she remember that her oldest kid was born in Palmetto Hospital in Hialeah and she married a very well known Hialeahen. What an idiot.

  3. Thank you Bravo for always making great shows me and some of my friends have been following the episodes on Tuesdays of the real housewives of miami, Alexia has descriminated the people that live in Hialeah by calling them low class people, and now you are in hot waters and you want to blame bravo for it. I don’t live in Hialeah but having met Alexia in different events this confirms that she really meant what she said, because she enjoys putting people down thinking it makes her look better, that’s why most people that know her despite her, because of her arrogance. (she even calls herself Barbie) This is what happens when you have low self esteem. Lea Black is a real classy lady and is doing what someone with gratitude for what they have would do .That’s what a real housewives of Miami is made of .Thank you Lea for representing us, the real housewives of Miami. Alexia we feel sorry for you, You always brag your husband has really good connections with the media hopefully for your own good he will be able to stop this before it get published in Spanish.

  6. Oh please, Hialeah is the scourge of Miami. Everyone knows that! Who the hell wants to live there? That place is embarrassing! Their idea of what's in style is dated reggaeton, muffin top fat women with bargain basement uber tight jeans, dollar stores, acrylic nails and Payless chancletas. Bitches, pleaaaasssseeeee!!!!
