Phaedra Parks' Husband Apollo Nida Doesn't Want His Visiting Him In Prison

YahooParenting.com:
For one Real Housewives star, news that his kids haven’t gotten permission to visit him in prison is reportedly a good thing.

Apollo Nida, husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks, is currently serving an eight-year sentence for fraud and was recently moved to a new prison facility, according to TMZ. The site reports that Nida’s two children, 5-year-old Ayden and 2-year-old Dylan, have not gotten approval to visit their father, but that both parents are OK with that. TMZ reports that sources say Nida believes it would be too traumatic for the boys to see him in prison, at least until they are older, and Parks agrees. In the meantime, the children will FaceTime with their dad.

While still legally married, Parks and Nida are no longer together.

Though both parents seem to have their children’s best interests in mind, Stacey Bouchet, an expert on family strengthening who is also the child of a formerly incarcerated parent, says it’s always best for children to see their imprisoned parents in person. “Some parents think it’s traumatic, and it’s true that it can be an ordeal,” she tells Yahoo Parenting. “But it benefits the children a great deal. Many prisons have special activities set up for parents to engage meaningfully with children, and it can be a wonderful experience.”
