The Real Housewives of Atlanta model opened up about her health issues to fans on Instagram last week. Cynthia shared a selfie from her doctor's office in Atlanta. "Early morning [doctor's] appointment today," she shared on Instagram on March 29. "Had a little health scare. Thankfully I’m ok."
Cynthia did not provide any further details on what kind of health issues she's been dealing with, but she noted on Instagram that she's "#grateful" to be doing well after going to the doctor.
She later revealed on Instagram that she underwent surgery earlier this week. "Grateful surgery went well this morning & was so happy my mom [Barbara Morris] was there with me," she shared, along with a photo of a get well soon gift in a post on Tuesday, April 3.
UPDATE (APRIL 4, 2:39 P.M.): Cynthia provided additional details on her health scare via an email to The Daily Dish Wednesday. "I noticed a slight raised lump on my back near my left shoulder blade about 2 months ago. At first I thought I had been bitten by something, or it was just back fat. A couple of weeks later, I noticed that it was still there and seemed to be growing," Cynthia shared. "I went to the doctor, and was told that it was lymphoma, a fatty tumor. Lymphoma is cancer of the lymph nodes, and lymphatic system. I Googled it immediately and was blown away by the photos of the worst cases in particular. I was scared because as soon as I heard the word tumor, I immediately thought cancer."
Cynthia said that she then scheduled a surgery to have the tumor removed, which was later found to be benign. "Surgery went well, however it went much longer than expected because the tumor was embedded very deeply in my back and partially under a muscle. It was also larger than expected," she said. "In the end, thankfully all the lymphoma was removed successfully, and it is benign."
She is now looking forward to a successful recovery. "I am home at Lake Bailey recovering," Cynthia shared. "Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes, texts, and flowers."
